Sport and fitness at HTWK Leipzig

Engaging in sport and physical fitness activities provides an important balance to academic or professional pursuits. It is a great way to stay fit, meet new friends outside the classroom and perform at higher levels, both physically and intellectually. Furthermore, playing sports helps to foster team spirit, communication and cooperation among university members. This is why sport and fitness is an important part of campus life at HTWK Leipzig.

Our university sport programme offers a wide selection of physical activities to students and staff, whose interests may range from simply practising a hobby to competing on a university team. HTWK Leipzig excels in many sports and regularly has successful teams in regional inter-university competitions such as the Saxon University Championships.

Depending on the type of activity, the sport programme includes informal meetings, training sessions, courses and camps. Participation is free for activities that do not involve supervision by a professional coach. The university sport programme currently offers more than 50 activities ranging from aerobic and aikido classes to African dance, badminton, beach handball, canoeing, chess, football, judo, mountain biking, Pilates, swimming and track and field to volleyball and yoga.
