How to apply: Degree students

If your goal is to earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from HTWK Leipzig, you are what we call a 'Direktstudent' that is, a degree-seeking student who enrols with our University directly rather than through an exchange programme such as Erasmus, for example.

Please note that international degree students do not apply to HTWK Leipzig directly, but through the 'University Application Service for International Students', better known as 'uni-assist'.

Uni-assist will review your application to determine whether you meet the general requirements for admission at HTWK Leipzig. They will convert your grades into German equivalents, for example, and check your language proficiency and other course-specific requirements.  It usually takes about two weeks for uni-assist to assess your application.

If you are found to meet our general admissions requirements, your application will be forwarded to our Department of Student Affairs for further processing. Uni-assist currently charges a fee of €43 - €68 for their services. Please refer to the uni-assist website for more detailed information and a step-by-step guide on how to apply.

Note that this is the standard application procedure for all international degree-seeking students (EU and non-EU citizens) and all HTWK Leipzig degree programmes (Bachelor’s and Master’s). DO NOT apply via uni-assist, however, if you are

  • a foreign national who has acquired the German university entrance qualification (Abitur)
  • a student participating in one of HTWK Leipzig’s international exchange programmes
  • a student participating in a special exchange programme
  • a non-degree student attending HTWK Leipzig  as part of a university collaboration

All other applicants should send their complete application to the following address:

uni-assist e.V.
D-11507 Berlin, GERMANY

Application deadlines

15 July for winter semester admission
15 December for summer semester admission
