Bachelor's degrees
A Bachelor’s degree from HTWK Leipzig, generally awarded after six semesters of full-time study, qualifies students to begin their professional careers, both in the national and international arena.
During the first three semesters of a Bachelor’s programme, students acquire the general basics of their chosen academic discipline. The remaining semesters are devoted to studies in the core field and involve a substantial amount of project work and practice-oriented components to provide students with key competencies such as social skills, the ability to work in a team, and to think and act in terms of projects and processes.
The practical phase (Praxisphase) is a cooperative study stage that students need to complete as interns at companies and other institutions of professional practice. Accompanied by a series of lectures, the practical phase is designed to enhance the practical relevance of classroom study by teaching students how to apply their expertise to real-world problems and tasks, especially via project work. Their involvement with real-world employers often provides students with interesting topics for their Bachelor’s thesis or even with their first job after graduation.
Bachelor’s degree studies at HTWK Leipzig culminate in a research paper (Bachelor’s thesis) and students’ subsequent graduation.
