Online Services
OPAL: The OPAL (Online Platform for Academic Learning) is an online platform used by all universities in Saxony and serves as a place for students and lecturers to share learning material, conduct enrollments for certain courses and spread information about changes in the schedule. It is - apart from the QIS - one of the essential online services, which every student will use.
QIS: The QIS information system is an administrative tool where students can manage their personal data, view their examination results as well as their status of enrollment and download the certificate of enrollment.
Schedule and room plan: Here you can find all schedules of the current semester. Simply sort by your degree course and your tutorial group.
Library Catalogue: In our library catalogue the media stock of HTWK Leipzig is recorded. Apart from print media there are also e-books and magazines as well as licensed and open online resources integrated. Via the catalogue students can view their user account, extend lending periods and reserve already borrowed books.
WLAN at HTWK Leipzig: Like every university in Europe, HTWK Leipzig provides WLAN via eduroam, which can be received in all our buildings. You can find advise for configuration and instructions here.
HTWK Leipzig e-mail Service: Every student receives an e-mail account at HTWK Leipzig Webmail server. This ensures to reach all students via email without using private email addresses. The address of every student is the following: name.surname@stud.htwk-leipzig.de
(All further webpages - except OPAL and the library catalogue - provide content in German only)
Study Support – Studifit
Studifit – Studieren lernen fürs Leben (Learn to study for life) is a project that focuses on improving study conditions and study performance at HTWK Leipzig. The team supports students throughout their entire study period at HTWK Leipzig by offering tutorials, workshops, consultation, e-learning and much more.
You can find an overview of all services and more information about the project here (content in German).
Language Learning Space
How do I write an email to a professor? How do I understand this text? Is the introduction for my paper alright? Why do I use “es” in this context? Did I summarize this report correctly? What does „gelten“ mean?
Language Learning Space can help you with these questions:
Wednesday, starting at 13:45
GEUTEBRÜCK-building G335
Participation is non-binding and free of charge.
Modules and Examinations
A module contains lectures, seminars and exercises, time for independent study and exams.
In the module description you can find:
- content
- goals (competences)
- recommended semester
- requirements and demands
- workload
- literature
A module concludes with an exam for which you will receive ECTS credits. You are automatically registered for every first exam and every first repeat exam of the modules you attend according to your study programme, except you have taken a semester off or do your practical semester. Exams can be conducted either in written, oral or other way (project, seminar paper, presentation, laboratory work). For more information about the exams, please check the Prüfungsordnung of your study programme (exam regulations - content in German).
Exam repetitions and cancellations
Failed examinations can be usually repeated once and only within certain time periods. For the second repetition exam you must submit a justified request at the Prüfungsausschuss (examination board - content in German).
If you wish to cancel your automatic exam registration, you need to hand in the cancellation form at the examination office within the set time period.
Find more information here (content in German).
Re-registration and Semester Fee
As an enrolled HTWK student you are obligated to re-register for every semester. You can re-register by transferring the semester fee within the given time limit. You can find all information concerning the account details here (content in German).
Under certain circumstances, there is the possibility to be exempt from paying the semester fee. You can find more information about this issue on the website of Studentenwerk Leipzig.
Please, remember to validate your HTWK Card (see above) 10 to 14 days after transferring the semester fee.
