The audit ensures that the product certificates issued by the AS-Interface testing laboratory at HTWK Leipzig continue to be of a high standard in terms of quality and reliability
We encounter the global industrial communication and automation standard AS-Interface (ASi) every day: For example, it ensures that, in the logistics sector, parcels are transported via conveyor belts from station to station until they are loaded onto onward transport; that, at airports, luggage is directed to the correct flight; and that free spaces are displayed in car parks – all of this automatically. Other companies also wish to comply with this standard and therefore have their products, which operate using the AS-Interface communication standard, regularly tested and certified at the globally unique AS-Interface test laboratory at the Research and Transfer Centre at HTWK Leipzig. After all, if all products are certified to the same standard, it can be guaranteed that the vendor-neutral system is compatible and functions for all participants in Industry 4.0.
AS-Interface test laboratory retains its accreditation
The AS-Interface test laboratory itself is also regularly inspected by the AS-International Association. The most recent inspection took place on 27 and 28 January 2026: Tilman Schinke from the AS-International Association travelled to Leipzig to examine the laboratory processes and test conditions, and assessed them thoroughly. During the audit, the laboratory engineers in charge, Tobias Rudloff and Jens Voigt, under the supervision of Prof. Tilo Heimbold, demonstrated their expertise and experience. – The outcome was positive: the AS-Interface test laboratory continues to meet all requirements, meaning that its accreditation could be renewed once again.
