PhD student from the Institute of Concrete Structures honoured at EURO SEC 6 in Turin for her research presentation
Constanze Helene Reuter, a PhD student at the Institute of Concrete Structures at HTWK Leipzig, was presented with a Best Presentation Award at the Sixth European Structural Engineering and Construction Conference (EURO SEC 6) in Turin. She received the award for her presentation entitled ‘Influence of curvature on the tensile behaviour of PBO-reinforced concrete’. In it, she presented the results of her research into the use of PBO fibres in fibre-reinforced concrete.
Since 2025, Constanze Helene Reuter has been conducting research as part of her PhD on the reinforcement of concrete columns using fibre-reinforced concrete, thereby continuing a long-standing research focus of the Institute for Concrete Structures. Her research shows that high-performance PBO fibres are particularly suitable for curved sections of structures, such as round columns or the corners of polygonal cross-sections. The findings contribute to the further development of modern reinforcement technologies and to the application of high-performance and durable composite materials in the construction industry.
EURO SEC 6 follows on from EURO MED SEC 4, which took place at HTWK Leipzig in 2022. On that occasion, two researchers from the Institute of Concrete Structures – Ludwig Hertwig and Florian Junker – were already honoured with Best Presentation Awards.
We warmly congratulate Constanze Helene Reuter on this award!
