This is how the 6th Leipzig Façade Day went on 15 September 2026 at HTWK Leipzig
With more than 200 participants, 17 exhibitors and a dedicated presentation area for HTWK Leipzig’s current research projects, the 6th Leipzig Façade Day, held on 15 September 2026, offered insights into the latest developments and innovative approaches relating to the building envelope.
Together with MFPA Leipzig GmbH, IFBT GmbH, the S&P Group and the DIBt, HTWK Leipzig organised this year’s Leipzig Façade Day at the Nieper-Bau. Experts from the fields of research, industry and building control discussed current issues in façade construction – ranging from fire safety and renovation to new materials and construction methods, right through to green façades. The accompanying trade exhibition, featuring 17 stands, offered the opportunity to discover the latest products, systems and solutions and to exchange ideas directly with the exhibitors.
The exhibition “Research and Innovation at HTWK Leipzig”, staged for the first time in the gallery, attracted particular interest. Various research projects and innovative approaches from the university demonstrated the wide range of work being carried out at HTWK Leipzig on topics relating to the building envelope and the future of construction.
Amongst the items on display were 3D-printed ceramic elements for passive evaporative cooling by Prof. Dr Monica Rossi-Schwarzenbeck and Ella Gürtler (IHBB), the ‘open glassroom’ teaching network by Prof. Dr-Ing Felix Nicklisch (IHBB), ‘Climate Sensitive Shades’ by Luisa Sander (FLEX.institut), and ‘ReRotor – utilising wind turbine blades for façades’ by Dr Pamela Voigt (Composite Circularity Lab).
The programme of talks, featuring contributions from the fields of research, building regulation and professional practice, also attracted considerable interest. The event thus demonstrated once again how important the exchange between academia and industry is for the further development of façade construction.
The Leipzig Façade Day will continue in 2028.
Auch das Vortragsprogramm mit Beiträgen aus Forschung, Bauaufsicht und Praxis stieß auf großes Interesse. Die Veranstaltung zeigte damit erneut, wie wichtig der Austausch zwischen Wissenschaft und Anwendung für die Weiterentwicklung des Fassadenbaus ist.
Der Leipziger Fassadentag wird 2028 fortgesetzt.
