Research at the HTWK Leipzig is ...
Contract research for industry and regional organisations is increasingly defining the profile of HTWK Leipzig. Students and young researchers are directly involved in research topics (internships, project and final theses, doctorates).
The efficiency is high: the projects usually have a short duration; compared to basic research, they require less funding.
Ombudspersons
HTWK Leipzig commits itself and its members to ensuring good academic practice. In the event of suspicion or accusation of academic misconduct, members of the university can contact the ombudsperson or their deputy (in the event of bias or incapacity). At the request of the ombudsperson or their deputy, the Standing Committee for the Investigation of Allegations of Academic Misconduct will become active.

Good scientific practice
The Regulations for Safeguarding Good Academic Practice were adopted by the Senate of HTWK Leipzig on 25 September 2024. It sets out the standards to be applied at HTWK Leipzig for good academic practice, ombudsman services and dealing with academic misconduct. It draws significantly on the recommendations, formulations and explanations in the Code "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice" of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the version of August 2019 and the "Model Statutes for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice and Dealing with Suspected Cases of Scientific Misconduct" of the German Rectors' Conference from 2022 and implements them in a legally binding manner for all persons working in the field of science and science support at HTWK Leipzig.
