The Graduate Centre (GradZ ) coordinates HTWK Leipzig's activities in the field of doctoral studies and early career researchers.
Many ambitious young academics conduct research at HTWK Leipzig. The promotion of young researchers serves the goal of career development for young researchers for positions within and outside the university, in particular through the opportunity to do a doctorate. In this way, the university also strengthens its competitiveness in research, development and teaching.
The university adopted guidelines for the promotion of early career researchers (PDF, 37 kb) back in 2015 and defined qualification and support measures for early career researchers in a concept for the promotion of early career researchers.
Every year, around 90 doctoral projects are supervised at HTWK Leipzig, carried out in co-operation with various universities in Germany and abroad.
Numerous researchers receive a doctoral scholarship from various support programmes for their dissertation projects.
In addition, young scientists work together on applied research topics in individual research and development projects, but also in junior research groups and junior research teams.
Around 10 doctoral projects are successfully completed each year. HTWK Leipzig awards a limited number of special graduation scholarships for the final phase of the doctorate.
Every year, the HTWK Foundation awards the Dissertation Prize for an outstanding doctorate completed at the university.
