What trends are relevant to the digital support of business transactions?
B2C e-commerce has experienced strong growth over the last decade. In contrast, the paceof digitalisation in the B2B sector – that is, business transactions between companies – varies depending on the product group, competitive landscape and customer structure. Insights from the well-researched business-to-consumer (B2C) segment can only be applied to the B2B sector to a limited extent. Whilst in B2C a large number of end consumers often face a few major providers and purchasing processes are usually standardised, the B2B sector is characterised by more complex, multi-layered structures and processes.
Aim of the study: The “Digital Commerce” study examines which trends are relevant for the digital support of business-to-business transactions, both today and in the future. In addition, it takes stock of the current and planned solution landscape and examines the success factors and challenges involved in implementing digitalisation. The study is to comprise three parts.
The study is supported by Deutsche Telekom MMS GmbH.
