Automated production of textile reinforcements: load-bearing, close to the final shape and adapted to the geometry of the composite component
At present, customised textile reinforcements are produced manually from machine-manufactured, standardised roll or mat stock. Long production times, high wastage and scrap, and low reproducibility and quality result in high production costs. This form of textile reinforcement is therefore only of limited suitability for the manufacture of 2D and 3D textile-reinforced concrete components with highly varied geometries.
With the industry’s drive towards ever more complex, high-performance and larger components whilst simultaneously improving the cost-benefit ratio, the key requirement is to manufacture the textile reinforcements in a load-appropriate manner, close to the final contours and adapted to the geometry of the composite component. This allows waste to be completely avoided.
TheLoadTex 3D project aims to eliminate existing shortcomings in the production of 2D reinforcements (e.g. the insufficient production speed of yarn laying) in order to manufacture them economically in the future. Furthermore, 3D reinforcements – which until now could only be produced manually and via complex process sequences – are to be manufactured using a novel, automated 3D direct yarn laying technique based on 2D yarn laying.
