Higher quality in the manufacture of carbon concrete components thanks to a new sensor concept
When automating processes, it is important to ensure consistent quality throughout the entire manufacturing process, i.e. from the production of formwork and reinforcement, through the concrete pouring—including reinforcement and insulation materials—to transport.
To achieve this, process monitoring must be comprehensive, continuous and fully automated in order to minimise any fluctuations in the quality of the textile reinforcement and the carbon concrete component. This monitoring improves the manufacturing quality of carbon concrete components and structures and subsequently maintains it at this level. The aim is also to automatically readjust the processes in the event of deviations. This improves both economic efficiency (less waste with higher quality) and environmental sustainability (lower resource consumption). Furthermore, it is possible to make standardisation and approval procedures more efficient, as well as to take production-related properties into account in structural design for the resource-efficient use of materials.
To this end, the PrecastQuality project is developing and implementing a sensor concept for robot-assisted reinforcement and component production. Other key areas include the validation of data acquisition and analysis systems, the use of digital twins, and the recording of quality characteristics within the quality assurance system.
