European Network for Multi-View Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (MultiViewLCSA)
The MultiViewLCSA project aims to bring together academia, industry and policy-makers within a pan-European network to advance cutting-edge research in the field of life-cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) and to promote sustainable business models (BM).
Life-cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) is still at a relatively immature stage, characterised by varying degrees of maturity in the assessment of the three pillars of sustainability (environment, economy and society), limited data availability and data quality, inconsistent integration methods, and manual LCSA tools with high demands on personal skills. On the other hand, strong growth can be observed in new economic sectors that integrate purely service-oriented and dematerialised business models.
Against a backdrop of stringent sustainability regulations, economic actors are ready to implement sustainable business scenarios with innovative business models. However, current LCSA methodology assesses sustainability on the basis of the product rather than the manner in which value is created.
With the vision of a sustainable society, the MultiViewLCSA project is building an interdisciplinary research community that possesses the necessary expertise across the entire value chain to develop efficient and practical multi-view LCSA modelling methods, implement automated LCSA tools, and strengthen collaboration in the field of LCSA between countries within and outside Europe.
