“Macroeconomics, Trade and Intercultural Business: Germany and the Southern Caucasus“ in cooperation with partner universities from Armenia and Georgia
Our summer school program, “Macroeconomics, Trade, and Intercultural Business: Germany and the Southern Caucasus” at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK)'s Faculty of Business Administration and Industrial Engineering took place from September 17 to September 26.
Highlights:
Alena Akulich, the regional director for Eastern Europe at the German Eastern Business Association, gave a keynote address titled "Unlocking Potential: Opportunities and Challenges for German-South Caucasus Trade and Investment."
Katharina Gelbrich (HTWK) gave a lecture on "Sustainability and Consumer Protection: Challenges for Caucasian Products on the German Market — A Legal Perspective.”
Christine Orlowski gave a workshop on “Intercultural Communication”
Students visited the BMW plant in Leipzig and the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum in Leipzig.
Our summer school program, "Macroeconomics, Trade, and Intercultural Business: Germany and the Southern Caucasus," at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences' Faculty of Business Administration and Industrial Engineering, is part of a joint project between the university, the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE), and the Caucasus University (CU). The project is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In the 1st week of the program, we delivered online lectures on trade models, trade policy, and intercultural communication. In the 2nd week, the program continued in Leipzig. Participants include fourteen HTWK International Management bachelor's program students, as well as seven ASUE and seven CU management and business administration students.
On the last day of the summer school, students presented their group work on topics in international trade between Germany and the Southern Caucasus. The students worked hard on their projects, and the presentations were excellent. IMB students from HTWK Leipzig will conclude their work by writing a paper on their respective topics by the end of the year. They will receive five credits for the module “International Economics” (W705) for their workload.
